Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically role-play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. The MUN functions just as any other UN conference.

Students in Model UN gain a wide range of skills and information critical to their success in school, college, and beyond. Students learn public speaking and are able to speak and deliver speeches in front of large audience. Apart from this, skills like critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities, debating are developed too. They hone their research skills and synthesize information from all over the world. They practice how to write policies, and learn about cultures they never even knew existed.

The agendas taken up by the UN for discussion, ranging from relatively general topics such as Equitable Access to Safe Drinking Water as a Human Right by UNHRC to International Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.

Delegates must research about their allotted countries in great detail, understanding their own foreign policy and thus, the considerations and compulsions that determine state behavior at an international level.

Last week our 16 students participated in three days regional conference of MUN held at The Pupil Saveetha Eco School (Chennai). Each participant was assigned a committee, country and a topic. Where 420 students from 16 schools participated. Our students were exposed to the procedures and proceedings of MUN programme. At the end of the three days conference ten delegates from were awarded the BEST DELEGATE AWARD. MALAVIKA .P of CP2 emerged as one of the winner. Our esteemed Principal Mr. Man Singh Subba addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of such conferences and motivated the participants to achieve high in life.

Now our students believe that they will be able to play a bigger part in the whole spectrum of things and play a bigger part in the process of formulating solutions that will make our society a better one. MUN has definitely introduced our students to an amazing world.
